Despite continuous rain since morning the ANMF determination and media persons' excitement made the programme a grand success. Primary and Middle School Ograbraj, Electricity Office Ograbraj, interaction with Mitakhari area farmers, Tsunami shelters, Govt. Secondary School Namunaghar, Hope Town Jetty, dilapidated Burma Jetty at Namunaghar, Pradhan Office Mitakhari and also witnessed the flooded fields along the roads in rural areas during the journey.
During the news coverage visit, media persons observed that some welfare projects benefitting the people, and people expressed their satisfaction over authorities, and many incomplete projects are still pending and left unattended by concern departments since many years.
The media persons also witnessed the dilapidated condition of schools, and challenges in health centre which still need to pay more attention by the concerned authorities to provide better services to the rural people. The people at most of the places narrated that despite registering of complaints or informing the concern departments nothing fruitful is coming out of the pleas as cutting of old trees on the sides of roads and rectifying old electric wires and upon other general issues.
However, the central government has been introducing and working on big projects as national high ways, bridges and laying of Optical Fibre Cable for the development of islands, but here the rural people cry for the basic infrastructure in the islands. Apart from that, the existing condition of roads are badly affecting the public service vehicles and parking place also becoming a matter of concern for survival, said some passenger vehicle operators at Tusnabad.
The AIR & DDK-the central government media houses also attended the tour and provided adequate coverage. The movement calls for the jail, a "National Memorial," to be declared a "National Pilgrimage Site." Activists are advocating for free entry to the light and sound show for island residents and a nominal fee of Rs.30 for outside tourists. Supporters emphasize the importance of including the jail's revolutionary history in school curricula. They believe that officially recognizing the site as a national pilgrimage location would be a fitting tribute to the martyrs and freedom fighters who were imprisoned there.
