Port Blair, Aug 29: The teachers and students of Navy Children School
(NCS), Port Blair on Aug 24, 2018 along with civilian volunteers and defence
personnel enthusiastically participated in loading 2.5 tons of relief material
on board Indian Air Force AN-32 Aircraft for dispatch to flood hit Kerala. Part
of this relief material was contributed by the students and staff of the
school.
This effort was in support of the initiative taken by the Islanders for
the Kerala flood victims, which took wings when Vice Admiral Bimal Varma, AVSM,
ADC, Commander -in-Chief, Andaman & Nicobar Command (CINCAN) accepted to
dispatch the relief material by Air Force aircraft when approached by the
Hon'ble Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri Bishnu Pada
Ray.
The
Member of Parliament took active interest in the initiative and the first batch
of relief material was dispatched on 21st August 2018. The Aircraft flew to
Thiruvananthapuram from where the material was further distributed by the
Relief Commissioner to the flood affected areas. The second batch left onboard
the AN-32.
