Media persons honoured by ANSCB Ltd. ANSCB all set to function with new name "Multi-State Coop. Bank" from next year onwards Aims to open 12 branches in major cities and touch Rs.10000 cr. turnover by 2022

Port Blair, Nov 28: "The Andaman and Nicobar
State Cooperative Bank Ltd. (ANSCB Ltd.), after registering tremendous
expansion in the A&N Islands with 41 Branches set up even in remotest
Islands and also despite all odds the ANSCB is having core banking in all its
41 branches in A&N Islands, is now planning to open its wings in mainland
cities in coming years", informed the Vice Chairman, ANSCB Ltd., Shri
Kuldeep Rai Sharma, in a felicitation function during Press Day Celebration
held on Nov 26, 2018 at Hotel Mansha Regency.
The programme was organized by ANSCB Ltd. to honour
the selfless & remarkable contributions of local journalists in the field
of journalism & to pay heartiest tributes to every single media worker for
articulating the sole aim of socio-economic development of islands by
comprehending service to the humanity.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma said
our Bank is mainly focusing socio-economic development of these Islands by
supporting various self help groups, youths in tourism sectors and local
entrepreneurs, besides windows and old aged pension beneficiaries and working
with the moto to reach out to the last person living in the remotest parts of
the Islands. He also appreciated the banking management and staff for their hard
work in taking the bank's turnover upto Rs.1500 crore this year 2018, he
further said that 2019 will be very challenging for the bank, as the its
planning to take a major leap, which is transforming itself from local
Cooperative Bank to Multi-State Cooperative Bank.
He said that the Bank is planning to open branches in
12 major cities across India like Chennai, Madurai, Trivandrum, Cochin,
Vishakapattanam, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Delhi, Patna, Lucknow, Mumbai etc. and by
2022 the bank is also planning to touch Rs.10,000 crore turnover mark.
Let apart this, Mr. Sharma said that media has played
a major role in educating the society by way of generating awareness among the
people on different aspects. The contribution of media in the overall
development and generating awareness is immense. It is therefore, the duty of
the society to recognize the contributions of media and for shaping the growth
of the society.
Earlier, Shri K Murugan, MD of ANSCB Ltd. welcomed the
gathering and said that media being the fourth pillar of the society plays a
pivotal role in exposing things which are true and creating public awareness
against social evils and other unhealthy practices in the modern society.
The President, Andaman & Nicobar Media Federation
(ANMF), Shri K Ganeshan has expressed thanks for organizing Press Day
Celebration by the Andaman & Nicobar State Co-operative Bank Ltd. and have
appreciated for recognizing with honour, dignity and gifts for the tireless
contribution of media towards socio-economic development of islands.
Expressing
gratitude to the ANSCB Ltd. for the gesture of felicitating local media
persons, Mr. Sanjib Kumar Roy, the General Secretary (ANMF) said that media in
Andaman plays the role of opposition too, in absence of a democratic set up.
"It is the media, which highlights problems of common man and takes up
their issues at their best in this regard. Little appreciation serves as major
encouragement for media persons, who are doing a thankless job," he said.
Mr. Roy added that ANSCB Ltd. has not only done well in last few years, but
also has always stood behind local media units.
