The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS
today launched the First Doctor Mobile Application for
screening Oral Cancer in A&N Islands
in the presence of Commissioner- cum-Secretary ( Health) Shri Nikhil Kumar,
IAS, Secretary (Health), Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, Director (ANIIMS), Dr. Pragya Sharma,
Director (DHS), Dr. Munni Singhania, HOD, Deptt. of Dentistry, ANIIMS, Dr. Ajay
Verma, other Senior Doctors of GBPH/ANIIMS. The main objective of this App is to
provide early detection and early intervention of precancerous lesions and
other oral health problems through self clicked pictures uploaded on the app.
The Mobile App was developed by the Department of Dentistry, ANIIMS in
collaboration with Quad Monk Solutions and RSI Pvt. Ltd. This facility will
enable the person to get the provisional diagnosis within 48 hrs once
downloaded.
Speaking on the
occasion, the Chief Secretary complimented the team from Department of
Dentistry, ANIIMS for the launch of the App which will benefit the Islanders to
a great extent. He said, to improve oral hygiene, this App has to be propagated
widely, so that more people are made aware
of the benefits and they can make use of the App effectively for oral
hygiene. Through this App, a person having oral issue can click a simple photo
of the mouth and upload the same in the App with details of chief complaints
and expert opinion will be provided within 24-48 hours for provisional
diagnosis, he said adding that if this App is effectively propagated among the
Island population, in a span of 2-3 months, the entire Island population can be
screened for oral hygiene.
Earlier, Dr. Hari
Haravel, Department of Dentistry, ANIIMS through a Power Point Presentation,
briefed the Chief Secretary about the functions of the App and its
benefits. He said, the mobile App First
Doctor offers free consultation for all oral lesion/ cancer. The main objective
of the App is to tele-screen and provide service for oral cancer in A&N
Islands besides enabling early detection and intervention for oral lesion and
adverse oral habits. Users can download the App from Google Play Store and
register themselves. This will be followed by uploading the complaints along
with image which will be viewed by Doctors who are registered and the patient will
receive expert opinion and provisional diagnosis within 24-48 hours. The App
also intends to include other chronic health problems soon, a press release
said.
