Port Blair, July 02: Guru Purnima has significance in Indian history, Maharishi Ved Vyasa, the great figure from the mythological period who authored remarkable works such as the Brahma Sutra, Mahabharata, and the 18 Puranas, was born on the full moon day of Ashadha. On this day, not only the guru but also anyone elder to you in the family should be considered a guru. By receiving the blessings of a guru, one is believed to attain a good life and prosperity. This day is also auspicious for receiving deeksha from a guru. Accordingly, Guru Purnima is observed at Chinmaya Mission enthusiastically, after lighting the traditional lamp, children actively performed bhajans, keerthans and chanted mantras during the entire observance of auspicious Guru Purnima celebration and took the blessings of Guru.
Speaking on the occasion Swami Shuddananda Saraswati (Guruji at Chinmaya Mission) said, “Guru Purnima is on July 03, 2023, however, according to the suggestion of devotees (engagement in working hours / school hours tomorrow) as per their convenience and within the auspicious moments of Guru Purnima, is being observed today.
As everyone aware that the Chinmaya Mission is being working for the welfare of various age group people in the society since 1978 in A&N Islands viz Chinmaya Balvihar for children, Chinmaya Vaniprasth Sansthan for elders of 60+ yrs., Chinmaya Devi Vruth for women, and similarly it also has Chinmaya Yuva Kendra for youths which was earlier less active, but now would start functioning by reinstated team led by Mr. N. Muralikrishna as President (CYK) on this special occasion officially. Mr. N. Muralikrishna has also participated in a three-day National Campaign of Chinmaya Mission held at Pune last month.
The prime motto of this Chinmaya Yuva Kendra is to channelize the energy of youth in a proper direction to build the future of youth itself as well as our country and keep learning from the life of Lord Rama and Lord Krishna through Sanatan path.
Swamiji further urged an active participation of youths in this auspicious movement by Chinmaya Yuva Kendra in A&N Islands with initial works onto De-addiction, purification of Mind and propagation of Positive Literature which is the need of the hour in youths’ life today. Bless you all”, he added.
Shri Manohar Singh, President, Chinmaya Vaniprasth Sansthan said, “on this auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima I extend my warm wish to everyone, and I congratulate the reinstated team of Chinmaya Yuva Kendra which is going to work for the wellbeing of youths in the present era according to their understanding and coordination with young minds, suitably, wish you all the best”.
Ms. Komal Anand (Founder of ‘Pank’ an NGO) said, she has been attached with the Chinmaya Mission for the past several years and perceived the guidance from Guru in her every walk of life. She also highlighted the importance of Guru in everybody’s life.
Earlier, Mr. M. Murali, President (CYK) said, “everybody requires a Guru in their lives to guide properly for the betterment of society, for that we have to choose a deserving Guru to walk on life under his supervision, and we are here today to prepare ourselves for future journey with the blessings of Guruji in Chinmaya Mission”.
Shri Arun Shrivastav, Mentor, Chinmaya Yuva Kendra, Shri Raghu, Joint Secretary, Chinmaya Mission also present on the occasion. Altogether, more than one hundred devotees are participated the celebration and prashad (lunch) was also distributed among all.
