“Upanayana Sanskar” successfully held at Chinmaya Mission

Port Blair, June 14: First time in the Andaman Islands 'Samoohik Upanayana Sanskar' (Thread ceremony) is organised at Chinmaya Mission, Port Blair on 14 June 2023. Children and youths of age group 8 years to 24 years have joined the auspicious thread ceremony, during the entire three days ceremony students have to be stayed at Chinmaya Mission, lodging and boarding was also arranged by the Mission.

As per the Swami Shuddhananda Saraswati, Guruji at Chinmaya Mission, "Upanayana Sanskar holds high significance in Hinduism. It is one of the major sanskar amongst the 16 mentioned in the Shastras. This Sanskar is meant for the boy to develop a code of conduct towards everyday life and imbibe the knowledge essential to it. This Yagnopavit gives long age and provides great and bright character and gives Tej and Force, over all one could become contained with all these qualities".

"In the modern era, youths are attracted towards modern gadgets and other stuff by losing moral and ritual values in the society. Consequently, they become confused and distressed to take even small decisions in their life and face complexity to lead a healthy lifestyle. However, it is a much needed practice for the betterment of the young minds and generations to come, and to keep the young minds in proper direction", says some parents witnessing the ceremony at Chinmaya Mission, Port Blair.

The movement calls for the jail, a "National Memorial," to be declared a "National Pilgrimage Site." Successful Surgery Gives New Life to 2.5-Year-Old Girl Born Without Properly Formed Food Pipe

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 30: A 2.5-year-old girl, born with a congenital condition where her esophagus (food pipe) was not properly formed, has successfully undergone a highly specialized surgery at ANIIMS (Andaman and Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences). Immediately after birth, a team of ANIIMS surgeons performed emergency surgery, placing a feeding tube in her abdomen through the stomach to ensure she could receive nutrition. For over two and a half years, the child was fed through this tube, enabling her to gain adequate weight in preparation for a reconstructive surgery to create a functioning food pipe. On September 25, 2024, a complex surgery was performed to create a new esophagus for the child.
