A tragic road accident claims man's life on NH-4 / ATR road

Port Blair, August 02: A 51 year man, Mr. Murugeshan (private worker), R/o Guptapara lost his life in a tragic road accident this morning at around 09:15 AM in front of IMFC sale-mela between Minnie Bay and Dollygunj Junction road. The accident occurred when an allegedly speeding car AN01 L 7004 (Swift Dzire) driven by a 33 yrs lady, Mrs. Preeti (govt. servant), R/o Garacharma knocked-down Mr. Murugeshan who was crossing the road by foot.

According to eyewitness, "Mr. Murugeshan, a mini cargo van driver, after parking his van on the other side of the road he walked to a nearby mechanic shop to ask something, and while coming back to his parked van by foot he met with this accident. The speeding car approaching from Dollygunj Junction, by seeing that, Mr. Murugeshan tried to make an attempt to step back but turned unfortunate, knocked-down by the speeding car by throwing him 10 mtrs away from the impact point. The car, too, collided with a road divider during the accident; the unfortunate accident caused severe injuries to the car's driver as well".

A person present at the scene, who happened to be a police officer, immediately intervened and managed both injured to rush to GB Pant Hospital. However, despite prompt medical attention, the doctors declared Mr. Murugeshan died. As Mrs. Preeti is currently undergoing treatment at the GB Pant Hospital and her condition is reported to be critical.

The family members of Late Murugeshan are in distress at GB Pant Hospital demanding justification for the irreparable loss caused due to this accident without their fault. Mr. Prakash Adhikari, Zilla Parishad Member of Guptapara, has demanded swift action from the authorities. He urged immediate arrest of the car driver.

Successful Surgery Gives New Life to 2.5-Year-Old Girl Born Without Properly Formed Food Pipe

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 30: A 2.5-year-old girl, born with a congenital condition where her esophagus (food pipe) was not properly formed, has successfully undergone a highly specialized surgery at ANIIMS (Andaman and Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences). Immediately after birth, a team of ANIIMS surgeons performed emergency surgery, placing a feeding tube in her abdomen through the stomach to ensure she could receive nutrition.
