Port Blair, Aug 02: In
a shocking incident, a lifeless body of a 48-year-old lady was discovered on
August 01, 2023, in a rented room located in Bathubasti, near Kannan Driving
School. The lady, identified as Mrs. Shoba Rani Mondal, was a resident of Pathergudda.
Mrs. Shoba Rani Mondal
operated a ladies' beauty parlour in Bathubasti, where she employed a male
massage therapist to assist her business. As per sources, the therapist Mr.
Naba Kumar Dhar, (35 years) is a native of Kolkata, was provided accommodation
in the said rented room by Mrs. Shoba Rani Mondal and she used to provide him
daily three time meals in his room only.
As per reports, on
August 01, 2023 Mrs. Shoba Rani Mondal visited her massage worker's room as
usual for providing lunch but failed to neither return to her parlour nor
respond to any phone calls. Worried about her whereabouts, her husband went
searching for her around 2:00 PM. To his dismay, he found that the worker's
room was locked from inside, and despite repeated calls, there was no response
from inside. Fearing the worst, he broke-open the lock and found her wife Mrs.
Shoba Rani Mondal's lifeless body. As per her husband, Mr. Manohar Mondal,
"the murderer mashed the head of her wife Mrs. Shoba Rani Mondal with an
LPG cylinder."
The husband
immediately alerted the nearby residents, who, in turn, informed the police
about the tragic incident. Upon arrival, the police registered a murder case at
Pahargaon Police Station, suspecting foul play in Shoba Rani Mondal's untimely
demise.
The prime suspect Mr. Naba Kumar Dhar is absconded after the heinous crime. Based on a complaint lodged by the victim's family, the police have registered a murder case against him under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code. More details are awaited.
