Port Blair, Mar 13:
The forthcoming Lok Sabha Election - 2024 is poised to be a challenging one,
amid controversial backstage statements from various political parties, viral
hashtags, old unfulfilled promises, and internal power struggles within
political parties.
According to sources
from national and local political parties that have declared their candidates
for the Lok Sabha Election-2024 from the Andaman and Nicobar Constituency, Shri
Bishnu Pada Ray has been declared as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)
candidate, Shri D Ayyappan as the Communist Party of India (Marxist) CPI (M)
candidate, Shri VK Abdul Aziz as the Andaman Nicobar Janta Party (ANJP)
candidate, and Shri Manoj Paul as the Andaman Nicobar Democratic Congress
(ANDC) candidate.
On the other hand, the
Indian National Congress is still deliberating on its candidate and is yet to
make an announcement. According to social media posts, Shri Srinath Vashist,
from a news media background, is likely to contest the Lok Sabha Election -
2024 independently.
Since 1967, people in
the A&N Islands have been accustomed to choosing between candidates from
the two national parties, either BJP or INC, with members of parliament from
the Andaman and Nicobar Constituency typically coming from these two parties
despite the availability of CPIM and other independent candidates. This time,
there have been noticeable internal disputes and allegations within the
national parties regarding party seats. People have been able to discern the
changes, developments, and steps taken in favor of the welfare of citizens in
the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Nonetheless, "ahead of the forthcoming Lok Sabha Election - 2024, people are facing a great dilemma about what to believe and what not to believe. Hopefully, the public will come to a conclusion before casting their votes," said a concerned citizen.
