Port Blair, April 17:
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has made all possible efforts and
arrangements to achieve 100% voter participation in the forthcoming General
Election - 2024 of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency,
which is going to be held on April 19, 2024. Under the supervision of the ECI,
awareness campaigns have been conducted, online mobile applications launched,
electoral helpline numbers activated, bike rallies organized, interactions held
with new voters in various educational institutions, and the Polling Day
declared as a Paid Holiday. Additionally, efforts have been made to reach the
outreach islands, initiate Special Voter Discounts on Food Bills in a few
Restaurants and Hotels, facilitate Free Pick-up and drop facility for Senior
Citizens & Divyangjans, arrange suitable ramps and wheelchairs at polling
stations, and provide other basic facilities to ensure voter convenience and
comfort at all polling stations.
Similarly, eligible
voters also need to understand that participation in the electoral process is
not merely a privilege; it is a solemn responsibility entrusted to every
eligible citizen. In a country as vast and diverse as India, with its myriad
challenges and opportunities, the act of voting becomes a potent instrument for
change or continuity. It is a means through which citizens can hold their
elected representatives accountable, ensuring that governance remains
responsive to the needs and aspirations of the people. By casting votes,
citizens reaffirm their commitment to the ideals of liberty, equality, and
justice, safeguarding the democratic edifice erected by past generations.
Therefore, everyone should come out of their homes and undertake concerted efforts to encourage voters to play their crucial role in India's Democratic System.
